Plantings kinda cool. Through planting were able to get fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs. Planting is not something that can be done quickly. It requires time, consistency, care and some technique. It can take a few months for plants to fully develop and harvest.
The most basic form you just need soil, water and light. But it can get pretty complicated.
- The soil you choose can affect how your plants going to grow. The soil is where the seed lays roots which it uses to soak up water and nutrients.
- You can also feed your plants! They eat organic matter and there is plant food and liquid fertilizer that has nutrients that help your plants grow big.
- For indoor plants, there are grow lights
- Plants need different amounts of sunlight and even then just direct sunlight can be harmful. A filter of sorts that can shade some light can be helpful for plants to grow
Im attempting to grow Basil, Oregano, Cilantro, Chives, and Parsley.
Basil
Fast growerGermination: 5-10d|Seedling: 2-3w|Harvest: 6-8w
Basil loves heat and grows fast - pinch flowers early to keep leaves coming all season.
Oregano
HardyGermination: 8-14d|Seedling: 3-4w|Harvest: 10-12w
Slow to start but incredibly hardy; it gets more flavorful as it matures and dries well.
Cilantro
Cool weatherGermination: 7-10d|Seedling: 2-3w|Harvest: 3-4w
Cilantro is a sprinter - it bolts to seed quickly in heat, so succession-plant every 2-3 weeks for a continuous supply.
Chives
Low effortGermination: 10-14d|Seedling: 3-4w|Harvest: 8-10w
One of the most low-maintenance herbs you can grow; once established, just snip and they keep regrowing.
Parsley
Slow starterGermination: 14-21d|Seedling: 4-6w|Harvest: 10-12w
Parsley is notoriously slow to germinate - soaking seeds overnight before planting can help speed things up noticeably.
Things im worried about
- Water amount? poured from the top post sowing
- How much fertilizer to place on top of the seeds
